I just watched 'Blue is the warmest color' - 'La vie d'Adèle' and of all the things be the end of the movie, I felt one thing, more than anything else:
I miss Europe.
It's the scene where she just walked out of the Gallery, she lights a cigarette and walks down the street. It's summer you can feel it, and suddenly I'm filled with the memory of that certain smell, a smell you'll never have here. After a warm, maybe even hot summer day, out, when it cools down in the streets and you walk home, there's a certain smell. I miss that smell. That very specific smell.

Oscars.
I guess I'm supposed to give my opinion about the Oscars last night; Was Elle's hosting brilliant or boring? Did Jennifer Lawrence trip accidentally or was it publicity? What do I think about Jared Leto and what about Leonardo DiCaprio? But honestly… If you want opinions about those things, there are more than enough on the internet already, so I'm not going to do that. Everyone who's watched it has their own point of view, so there you go. Instead I'll remember the night where I had the pleasure of watching one of Hollywoods greatest nights being surrounded by people that I adore deeply, drinking wine, eating lots of Pizza and getting another producer on board for my short film. Not a bad night at all. A truly wonderful night to be completely honest.
Now I'm back in real life, doing translations, working on a re-write of the script and preparing for two meetings tomorrow.
Kali is gone, so the apartment is empty - that's rather strange. And everyone is making their plans. Robert is moving back to England in April, Sara is planning her trip to Spain in July and Kali, after India, will be going to Paris for a while. Everything is changing. A friend of mine used to say that it's hard to find friends in this city who will really stick, and it's true. It's even weirder when you sincerely believe that you've found the best of them all and then are faced with them leaving. Granted, Sara and Kali are coming back, but you never know for how long. And to be completely honest, I am not planning on staying here forever either. I'm a European at heart and that's where I want to go. That's where I want to be. But one step at a time.
For now, let's honor the winners and nominee's of this great year of film (it really was exceptional) and continue creating. For the future will lead us where it has to.
